Poila Boisakh or Pohela Boisakh marks the starting of Bengali New Year. It is celebrated by Bengalis all over the world by cleaning and decorating the house with alpona and rangolis and with flower garlands outside the house. Some even visit temples and pray for the well-being and prosperity of their family in the coming year. It is celebrated on 15th April on non-leap year and 14th April on leap year. As 2024 is a leap year, so this year Noboborsho will be celebrated on 14th April. According to Bengali calendar, it is observed as the first day of Boisakh month.
